Croquetes de la casa $15 A must-try Spanish tapa, these croquettes are perfection. You can choose between smoked sausage with potato and red pepper mayo or bacalao with scallion mayo. We went for the bacalao version, inspired by the famous Casa Labra in Madrid. The crispy shell encases a generous amount of tender cod, and the refreshing scallion mayo with a drizzle of olive oil adds a delightful layer of flavor. ๐ Pulpo con Caper Chimichurri $26 Grilled octopus legs with potato chunks. The octopus is cooked to perfectionโcrispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The potatoes are soft and satisfying, adding bulk to the dish. The chimichurri sauce, with its tangy capers and fresh herbs, is a perfect match for the smoky flavor of the octopus. ๐ฆ ๐ Prawns con Ajo Blanco $22 This dish was an instant hit! We ordered it with slices of bread to soak up the traditional Spanish cold almond soup, Ajo Blanco. The shrimp is soft but not mushy, and the Ajo Blanco sauce, made from Marcona almond paste, white grapes, and spicy garlic oil, offers a rich, nutty flavor with a hint of fruitiness and a subtle spiciness. ๐ค ๐ Steak con confit shiitakes $38 The 5oz New York strip steak, ordered by my meat-loving partner, was cooked to a decent medium-rare with some blood and a bit of chew. The confit shiitakes added a layer of umami, and the Salsa Asadera sauce, with its smoky and roasted flavors, elevated the dish. ๐ ๐ Bar Baserri ๐ A few minor drawbacks are the limited menu and the higher price point, but the quality of the flavors is top-notch. If youโre in the mood for refined, layered tapas with a hint of smoky aroma, this place is worth a visit. ๐ #DiningPlan #NYCDining ๐ฝ๏ธ
