New York Genesis House | Korean Teahouse by the Chelsea River

At Genesis House by the beautiful Little Island view in Chelsea, the downstairs features an impressive Genesis showroom, while the restaurant is upstairs. The decor is grand and bright, and the scent in the elevator reminded me of the Ritz back home. A few friends and I ordered the lunch $62/3-course menu, with 2-3 options for appetizers, main courses, and desserts. We each chose different options, so we had a mix of hits and misses, but overall, we managed to piece together a meal with no disappointments. Their Korean fruit teas are quite famous, with many choices. We ordered plum blossom, lotus root, and barley teas, with the lotus root tea being our favorite. The downside is that the $17 tea comes in only a small pot and is not refillable. Appetizers: 🌟 **YUKHOE (p5)**: Beef tartare, one of the better appetizers, enhanced with oyster cream for freshness, topped with crispy nori and garlic kimchi for added texture. πŸ€” **Mul Hwe (p1)**: Sashimi, the fish was bland, likely kanpachi, with a pink citrus sauce and a fermented kimchi flavor. Main Courses: 🌟 **Dwaeji Onmyeon (p2)**: Pork noodle soup, the broth is very flavorful, the meat slices are tender pork chops, and the scallion oil on top of the broth is quite fragrant. The only downside is that the noodles are a bit soft. πŸ™ƒ **Dak Galbi**: Spicy stir-fried chicken, very ordinary, on par with a $10 dish from Tofu House, and even undercooked. Desserts: πŸ’–: The puff pastry with ice cream in the middle was quite tasty. The other option was a tea set, which was a big miss. TLDR, aside from the ambiance and view, there's not much reason to visit this place. Even the service was quite average, with difficulty finding a waiter for a long time. I especially can't understand the tea recommendation. Paying $17 for a non-refillable tea that you finish in a few sips is just too much. #NYCFood #NYCRestaurantExperience #NYCChelsea
