New York Go-Chin Khao Man Gai 🍔
The portions are pretty big here. You can get full for around $15 per person. We ordered a bit too much and ended up spending $25 per person, totally stuffed! 🍔 🍃 Khao Man Gai means “rice with fat chicken.” It’s a cozy, down-to-earth spot. I thought we’d only be able to get takeaway, but to my surprise, there were several tables in the back. 🎢We got there just after 6 p.m., and the place was pretty empty and chill. Later on, it filled up, and we even ran into my friend from the south’s colleague. What a small world! 😄 We ordered: 🌺 Signature Chicken Set + Combo Set (poached + fried) Both came with chicken soup, and we added some chicken liver on the side. My friend from the north thought both the poached🐔 and fried chicken were delicious, but my friend from the south preferred the poached version. It was so good that we’d definitely order it again! 🍗 🌊 The only downside was that the rice wasn’t as fragrant as our favorite spot, but the chicken more than made up for it. The meat was outstanding and even got a rare thumbs-up from the hard-to-please friend from the south. (It’s so rare!) The chicken had more layers of flavor, and there was a consistent gelatinous layer between the skin and the meat. 🍗 🏙️ We also had: Chicken Feet Tom Yum Zabb 🌸 The soup was super spicy and tangy, just the way it should be. And they gave us plenty of chicken feet. This time, my friend from the north learned that authentic versions are usually clear soup or served with chicken feet. 🎢 #NewYork 🗽🌟
