I’ve been to many Thai restaurants, and while Hainanese Chicken Rice is often associated with Thailand, it’s truly a beloved staple across the entire Southeast Asian region. In my opinion, a great plate of Hainanese Chicken Rice relies on the perfect harmony of three key elements: the rice, the chicken, and the sauce. The chicken-fat-infused rice is the soul—fragrant, rich, and perfectly textured. The poached chicken is the backbone—tender, juicy, and cooked just right. And the sauce? That’s where the personality comes in—bold, flavorful, and absolutely essential.
This restaurant nails all three. Not only does it capture the authentic flavors, but it also shows great attention to detail, making me feel like I’ve been transported back to Southeast Asia, right here in New York City.
Their Thai-style pork rib soup is also a standout—sour, spicy, and incredibly satisfying. The broth is rich and aromatic, and the ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender. It’s the kind of dish that warms you up from the inside out.
What’s even more impressive is how reasonably priced everything is. In a city like New York, where good food often comes at a premium, this spot offers exceptional Southeast Asian cuisine at a great value. Whether you’re craving a taste of home or exploring these flavors for the first time, this restaurant is absolutely...
Read moreI’ve been to many Thai restaurants around the world 🌍 , in New York 🗽and also in Bangkok 🇹🇭 and the KHAO MAN GAI , the classic poached chicken is a very much a THAI dish as Singaporean 🇸🇬 dish as it comes from the East. There are many street food places in Bangkok 🇹🇭that specialize in KHAO MAN GAI and its considered a traditional Thai 🇹🇭 food. To find an excellent poached chicken in Bangkok 🇹🇭it’s a mission so to find one , in the east village is a beautiful and tasty surprise. I had the KHAO MAN GAI - poached chicken 🍗 and the Gai Yang- grilled chicken 🍗. The chicken was tender and juicy , was cooked perfectly and it’s the same for the grilled and the poached, the sauce was spicy 🌶️ and reminded me the streets of Bangkok 🇹🇭the rice and the soup as well were rich, perfect balanced and delicious. The restaurant stands tall on delivering the promise of her name. Authentic Thai 🇹🇭 food. The place is small and warm , simple , the staff is welcoming and friendly, and the reasonable price ( 18$ for the set ) makes it A MUST in New York today. Come as you are and...
Read moreI ordered: crispy chicken skin shrimp wontons Khao Man Gai Pi-Set (Steamed and Fried Chicken) Khao Soi Gai Thai Tea with coffee jelly Roselle
Super authentic place for Khao man gai. All the food was very fresh and flavorful. My favorite dishes were the classic Khao man Gai pi-set and the crispy chicken skin appetizer. The steam chicken was super tender and juicy with two different types of dipping sauces. The chicken skin was super crispy and the side of sweet Thai chili sauce really helped cut the grease. The Khao soi Gai had a lot of flavor with a mixed of pickled veggies, lemon on top, and chewy noodles that made the dish very enjoyable. Thai tea was also pretty strong and I enjoyed the chewiness from the coffee jelly. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would definitely...
