New York Should Have Been Hot a Long Time Ago
It’s Been Too Long Since I Was Surprised by 🇲🇽 Food❗️ The long-awaited BK Mexican cuisine place, this spot used to be a tortilla factory that imports all kinds of heirloom ingredients from Mexico. 🌽 Not long ago, they opened a restaurant, and of course, the taco shells are homemade. 🌮 📍 Sobre Masa, which means “after eating, you still want to chill and chat for a long time” in Spanish. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a Southerner give a high score! This place has an 8/10, which is super high by Southern standards. Every dish is perfectly seasoned and unique. Milpa Salad is like a “Lao Gan Ma” salad. 🥗 The seasoning is 💯! The roasted chili skins are fragrant but not spicy, combined with the crunchy Mexican corn kernels and beans, plus the soft cheese. Just writing this makes my mouth water. 🐥 Chicken Liver Mousse The seasoning is fresh and not cloying. The smooth texture pairs perfectly with crispy tortillas. 🥦 Broccoli Sprout Mole Highly recommended by the waiter. I used to not be a big fan of mole (like the overly rich one at Cosme), but I love the seasoning here. 🌮 Pork Shank The main course comes with tortillas so you can assemble your own tacos. There’s so much meat! This would easily be a $50-$60 dish for two in Manhattan, but here it’s just over $30. 🍮 Flan is 💯 It’s so hard to find such an authentic custard! I was almost moved to tears. When the waiter came to clear the plates, he said this is the level a proper flan should be. I agree! 😍 #SweetTreatsMakeMeHappy #NewYorkDelights 🌆🌟
