New York Weekend: Let’s Melt Some Glass! 🫧
💓Lately, I’ve been super busy with midterms and barely had any time to relax. So, my thesis partner and I booked a glass ring workshop in advance to take a mini-break! 🎓 💓We went to a studio in Brooklyn, which is super convenient since we live here. The total cost for both of us was a little over $400, so it was around $200 each. The whole experience lasted about 3 hours. The first 30-40 minutes were a smooth demo by the instructor, who made it look so easy that we thought, “Oh, this doesn’t seem hard at all.” But when we tried it ourselves, we realized that once the glass gets soft, it’s really hard to control! It easily deforms or breaks, and I wasted some material at the beginning. 💓But we persevered and finally got our pieces done! We were supposed to make three rings, but I messed up the first one, so I ended up with two. Both are animal-themed, and I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. However, we had to wait a few days to pick them up because they needed to cool down slowly and strengthen. 💓Quick tip: The glass is extremely hot ! Even though it looks cool, it’s still at a high temperature. I got a tiny burn, but the instructor was very kind and made sure the process was safe, giving constant reminders. He was very responsible, staying by our side the whole time, correcting our movements, and teaching us some useful tips. 💓We booked on the website two weeks in advance. We actually wanted to try glassblowing, but those classes were booked up until the end of April! 💓So, I highly recommend trying glass melting if you’re looking for something to do on the weekend. It’s a great way to relieve stress, learn a new skill, and take home a meaningful piece of art! 🌟 Brooklyn Glass #NYCWeekendRecommendations #BrooklynHandmade #GlassMeltingExperience #NYCRelaxingActivities #LearningNewSkills #HandmadeArt
