Newport Travel Guide (For Non-Drivers)

Today, I’m here to share a Newport travel guide with you all! 😊 Transportation If you have a car, driving directly is recommended, but I won’t go into details about that. Today, we’ll focus on options for non-drivers 🚗. We took a train from Boston to Providence. There are two stations you can depart from: South Station and Back Bay. (Pro tip: Get a weekend pass—it’s only $10 🔪!) If you’re heading to cities north, just take the train from North Station 🚗. Cliff Walk Guide To get there, we took the No. 60 bus for $2 🔪. Here’s a heads-up: You don’t need to buy a day pass at all! Take the No. 60 bus to Newport Visitor Center (that’s its final stop), then you can take the free No. 67 bus to the South End of Cliff Walk. First off, Cliff Walk is divided into three difficulty levels: Easy, Medium, and Difficult. Difficult is a key point—pay attention! ⚠️ It’s really tough to walk on. The path is lined with big rocks 🪨, and they’re super slippery. On top of that, it rained the day we went, so we almost slipped a few times. At the start, it’s all big rocks, and later on, it turns into small pebbles. After walking a bit further, there’s a platform that’s easier to walk on—you can take a short break there (pro tip: Make sure to bring enough water 💧!). You can’t enter the mansions directly from Cliff Walk; you need to walk around, so be prepared for a little extra distance. Mansion Guide There are two iconic mansions here. The Breakers: It was a filming location for the movie The Great Gatsby 🎬, and it has a strong European style. The 3rd floor of The Breakers isn’t open to visitors. The tour route is fixed, but it can get crowded sometimes (lots of people!). Marble House: The Chinese Tea House is right next to Marble House—don’t miss it! Inside Marble House, it’s absolutely spectacular—almost everything is made of marble 🪨. I highly recommend checking out its Golden Room—all the decorations there are made of gold ✨! Now, a tip on how to get to the mansions: If you’re short on time, don’t try to visit both. To get to Marble House, you need to exit from the previous intersection and walk around, and there’s no exit at the South End, so it’ll take longer. Alright, that’s the end of this travel guide 🔚! Save it now and use it for your trip later 😁! #Travel #SceneryOnTheTrip #Newport #BostonLife #TravelGuide
