NOLA | The National Dessert — A Not-Too-Sweet, Holeless Doughnut 🍩

Beignet: It’s pretty much the national dessert of Louisiana/New Orleans… As a “fried doughnut,” it’s better than I expected — the dough itself is barely sweet, and it pairs perfectly with powdered sugar and coffee. 🥇 Cafe Fleur de Lis: The best! A brunch spot that we both agreed was the tastiest of our trip. Their brunch is amazing — I’ll write about it in the food section later. Their beignets are beautifully layered, and their café au lait is made with chicory — super bitter and just right with the beignet. The other two spots below were actually recommended by their staff. Beignet: $7 🏙️ Cafe du Monde — famous for “the beignet.” Cash only, and the price after tax is conveniently a round number. Three beignets for $5. Located by the river and on Jackson Square, it’s always lively, with a huge space — perfect for snacking while watching the street scene. 🌿 Cafe Beignet: A chain — there’s one every few blocks. The Royal Street location is especially cozy. Their beignets are big, fluffy, and crispy on the edges. #NewOrleans #NOLA #Thanksgiving #Foodie #TravelNOLA
