NOLA Hidden Gem | A Real Review of Katie's Restaurant 🍽️
Tonight’s family dinner was at Katie’s Restaurant & Bar in Mid City — a local favorite since 1984, with 1.8K Yelp reviews averaging 4.2 stars ⭐️. 📍 The Vibe A true neighborhood spot — not touristy, more like a cozy community hub 🏡. The bar area is lively (a bit noisy), and the space is small but always buzzing. You can also sit outside! Appetizers 🦪 Char-grilled Oysters ($18 for 12) A NOLA must-try! Garlicky, buttery, and packed with herbs. The oysters shrink while grilling, and the sauce is quite salty — better when scooped up with baguette slices 🥖. 🍄 Seafood Mushrooms ($15) Stuffed mushrooms filled with seasoned ground meat and shrimp, topped with melted cheese 🧀. Rich, creamy, and delicious — though the portion is small. Served with two toast slices. 🍕 Boudreaux Pizza ($24) A thin, crispy crust topped with shrimp, roasted pork, spinach, garlic, onions, and cheese — a tasty NOLA-inspired pie! 🧅 Onion Rings ($11) Crispy outside, sweet inside — perfect on their own. The dipping sauce makes them saltier, so enjoy them hot 🔥. Main Course 🍖 Blackberry & Jalapeño Ribs ($25/half rack) Comes with two sides. We chose sweet potato fries (our favorite!) and grilled zucchini. The ribs are tender, fall-off-the-bone, and glazed with a sweet-spicy sauce. Generous portion! 🍰 Birthday Dessert (Free! 🎉) No birthday discount, but they surprised us with a classic American dessert — super sweet, but the kids loved it 🎂. Final Thoughts Katie’s is a hearty, flavorful, and welcoming neighborhood restaurant. Most dishes are on the salty side — pairing them with a drink might balance it out 🍷. Great for families or when you want a real taste of local NOLA life! #NOLAeats #LocalGem #KatiesRestaurant #FamilyDinner #NewOrleansFood #CreoleCuisine
