North America | Weekend Trip to Holland, Michigan πŸš—πŸŒ²

Spent the weekend in the lovely town of Holland, highly recommended by a friend! Drove about 1.5 hours from Lansing β€” the scenery along the way was classic rural Michigan: sprawling lawns and untouched forests. πŸŒ³πŸ›£οΈ First, we grabbed a bite in town 🍱 Lunch was at Mizu Sushi πŸ™ Takoyaki (4 pieces served with a small salad, around $6 – pretty good!) 🍀 Tempura Udon (hearty portion, the broth had a sukiyaki flavor – avoid if that’s not your thing) 🍣 Two sushi rolls: one salmon, one Maki 7 (assorted 7-piece) ⚠️ Both rolls were a bit disappointing – not recommended. We didn’t finish everything. Total for two (including tip): ~$55. Budget wisely, girls! Beach Time! πŸ–οΈ We visited three beaches in total: 1️⃣ Idlewood Beach (through Tunnel Park) This park was full of families camping and grilling – such a lively weekend vibe! Climb up the hill, and you’ll be greeted with a breathtaking lake view that blends into the sky. β€œIs that the ocean?!” was my first reaction 😍🌊 The beach was crowded, so bring a picnic blanket or chairs if you want to relax. The sand is clean and soft – no worries about walking barefoot! 2️⃣ Laketown Beach Since the first beach was packed, we looked for a quieter spot. The road to this beach felt remote – few cars, thick forests on both sides, and eventually no cell service (there are warning signs). It felt a bit too isolated and sketchy, so we turned back. If anyone’s made it there successfully, let me know how it was! 3️⃣ Private Shoreline Beach This one was unique! After parking, you walk through an old-growth forest to reach the sand. The trees are towering and majestic 🌳➑️🏝️ Not recommended if you just want easy sunbathing – the trail is long! But if you love adventure and unique landscapes, go for it! The beach itself is huge and less crowded, with wider views. The water is shallower and lighter in color toward the south – not as blue but still pretty. If you’re planning a relaxed day trip: βœ… Have a meal in town βœ… Pick one beach to unwind βœ… Check out the river-lake confluence if you have time Already excited to explore more of the North Michigan lakeshore next time πŸš—πŸ’™ #NorthAmericaLife #PureMichigan #LakeMichigan #HollandMI #BeachDay #WeekendGetaway #GreatLakes
