Nuwara Eliya: The Highland Town of the Tea Country

✅ Visiting Tea Plantations The core scenery in the Nuwara Eliya mountain region is undoubtedly the vast, rolling tea plantations. Tea pickers dressed in colorful saris dot the lush green tea fields like vibrant flowers. With skilled hands, they pluck the tender shoots and leaves from the tea branches and gently toss them into the bags on their backs. Before tea picking, a ceremony is conducted to seek blessings. There are many tea factories in Nuwara Eliya where visitors can gain insight into the tea-making process, including separation, crushing, and drying. You can also taste the black tea produced by the factories and purchase some to take home. ✅ Hill Country Tea Train The train journey from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya, and then to Ella, is very famous🚆. Its is traveling through high mountain tea plantations, pine forests, and cliffs, and it moves at a slow pace with doors open throughout the journey, allowing passengers to enjoy breathtaking scenery! ✅ Horton Plains National Park Horton Plains National Park is a national park in Sri Lanka that allows visitors to hike and explore. This land is peaceful and peculiar, covered with pristine grasslands. The famous attractions include the "World's End" cliff and Baker's Falls. It takes about 3 hours to walk through the plain and back. ⚠️ Warm Reminders: 1️⃣ There is a significant temperature difference on the plain, with lower temperatures in the early morning and evening. Visitors are advised to wear long sleeves and pants to stay warm. 2️⃣ The chances of seeing animals are higher on sunny days, but the sun is harsh at noon, so remember to take sun protection measures. 3️⃣ The best season for visiting is from January to March when the weather is clear, and the sun is gentle, making it an ideal time for hiking and exploration. 4️⃣ It is recommended to arrive at the entrance by 7 am to start the hike. After 9 am, fog can obscure the view of the World's End cliff, leaving you with only the feeling of walking on clouds and not being able to see the idyllic life at the foot of the mountain. #Hill Country Tea Train# Horton Plains National Park#Tea Plantations#Nuwara Eliya#SriLanka #SriLankaTravelGuide #SriLankaTourism #SriLankaGroupTour
