NY | Kaaterskill Falls - A Misty Mountain Adventure 🌧️🏔️
On March 28th, we drove nearly three hours from New Jersey to the small town of Cairo, NY, near Kaaterskill Wild Forest, for a cozy cabin getaway. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans—rainy, chilly, and slippery trails all weekend! ☔❄️ But our 11-mile rainy hike to Kaaterskill Falls the next day turned into an unforgettable adventure, making our last New Jersey hike extra special. Starting from the Harding Road Trailhead parking lot, we ascended through misty clouds, feeling like we were walking through a dreamy mountain paradise 🌫️✨. The early spring rain was icy, but the constant uphill climb kept us warm. After 5-6 miles, we finally reached the thundering waterfall—its powerful cascade resembling a preacher with outstretched arms, showering visitors with icy mist. ❄️💦 Winter's stubborn ice still clung to the rocks, adding to the raw, wild beauty. (Summer here must be a completely different vibe!) The trail itself wasn’t too challenging, but the scenery was breathtaking. After passing the falls, the crowds disappeared, leaving only the sound of rain and our footsteps on the pebbled path—pure serenity. 🌿🍃 Pro Tip: Wear waterproof boots! The mud and wet rocks are no joke. 🥾 Pack layers—mountain weather changes fast! 🧥 Summer vs. Spring? Both are magical, but spring’s misty drama is unbeatable. #NYHiking #WaterfallAdventures #WeekendEscape #NatureTherapy #HikingVibes #ExploreNY #MountainMagic
