NYC|First Taste of Tibetan Food in the East Village! 🏔️
I've always dreamed of traveling to Tibet—little did I know my first Tibetan meal would be right here in NYC. After a workout near NYU 🚴, I walked into this charming spot in the East Village. 🥟 Momo (Tibetan Dumplings) The beef filling is incredibly hearty! Freshly steamed, they’re juicy with a chewy, satisfying wrapper—similar to soup dumplings but less oily. Eight pieces per order make for a filling meal 😌. Served with two sauces: a fragrant yellow dipping sauce (topped with a cute little heart 💗) and a creamy white one that’s mild and smooth. Can’t decide? Try the combo with beef, chicken, and chive options! 🥩 Drok-Sha (Beef Jerky) Not sure what the name means (anyone know? 👀), but it’s like intensely flavorful beef jerky—firm, aromatic with chili oil, and purely meaty. Perfect with beer… though your jaw might ache after a few pieces 😅. Not for the tender-toothed! Comes with a huge Tingmo (Tibetan steamed bread)—plain, soft, and spongy. A bit dry on its own, but great dipped in soup! 🍜 Thenthuk (Beef Hand-Pulled Noodle Soup) The veggies almost outnumbered the hand-torn noodles! The beef here is much more tender than in the jerky, and I loved the bell peppers and wood ear mushrooms. Simple, homestyle, and deeply comforting. After these substantial dishes, I left happily stuffed. Three dishes came to around $25 per person 👏🏻. The space is clean, bright, and cozy. Already eyeing the yellow Liangpi rolls and butter tea for next time—I’ve heard their chili oil can be seriously spicy 🌶️! 📍 Lhasa #NYCTravel #NYCEats #NYCFoodGuide #EastVillageEats #TibetanFood #HiddenGems #100PlacesToTry #FoodAdventure #LhasaNYC
