NYC | Two Weeks of Drinks: Snails? Rice Wine Brine? 🐌🍸
Two weeks of exploring NYC's vibrant cocktail scene brought some truly unique sips and discoveries. From experimental concepts to cozy classics, here's the rundown. Seed Library - The highly anticipated opening from London's Mr. Lyan delivered on atmosphere but fell slightly short on execution. While the space felt special, promised elements like snail essence were too subtle to notice. An interesting concept that needs refinement. Bar Neat/Midnight Blue - Always reliable! Tried their experimental zao lu dirty martini - personally found it too salty 🧂, but appreciated the creativity. Their upcoming menu preview stole the show: juicy pear highball, Sichuan peppercorn white lady, clever nut-based "banana" cocktail, and aromatic chamomile Manhattan. Each felt innovative yet balanced. Dante - Consistently excellent. Their warm coffee cocktail provided perfect comfort as temperatures dropped. L'Americana - The Raspberry Hot Buttered Rum was standout delicious! Imagine fruit tea blended with butter-washed rum, mascarpone, yogurt, oat milk and cinnamon - creamy, subtly spicy and utterly comforting ❤️. Yawning Cobra Midtown - Their new location significantly outperforms the original in both drinks and vibe. The New York Edition - Met bartender Mateo who crafts beautifully balanced cocktails with genuine passion. A reminder that skill and humility create the best experiences. Martiny's - Still underwhelming. Had to return a poorly made daiquiri - disappointing for a establishment with such reputation. Birds - Became my go-to for jazz nights. Simple classics paired with thoughtfully curated live music create perfect easy evenings. Shinji's - Bartender Halil shared stirring techniques before his move to Miami! Sometimes the best lessons come unexpectedly. Wine Discoveries - Sorso's Italian wine flights educated my palate 🍷, Elvis offered cozy orange-hued warmth, and Horse With No Name surprised with incredible anchovy butter bread. Final Thoughts - While Eleven Madison Park's bar underwhelmed, Clemente upstairs remains solid. Singlish's baijiu flight offered novelty if not revelation. NYC's drinking scene continues evolving with bold experiments alongside perfected classics. The search for that perfect balance of innovation and execution continues - with plenty of delicious sips along the way! #NYC #CocktailCulture #BarHopping #Mixology #NYCNightlife #DrinkNYC #FoodieDiary #CocktailLover #NYCExplorer
