I missed out on trying an almond croissant in Chengdu before coming to the U.S., so I made sure to visit this bakery I’ve had bookmarked for a while. 🍴 Bread Story 📍 264 1st Ave., New York, NY 10009 🥐 Almond Croissant Huge—literally face-sized! Half of it is like a regular croissant back home. It’s flat and ultra-crispy (“crunch-crunch” with every bite), but lacks the fluffy, chewy layers I love. The filling is generous, but the almond flavor is mild—almost like a light custard—and not too sweet. Half was plenty for me. Might suit those who prefer a subtler almond taste. 🥪 Croque Monsieur On the salty side, with crisp edges and soft bread inside. Not my favorite. Overall, Bread Story is decent but didn’t wow me.
