Off-the-Beaten-Path But Interesting Museums 🌟
Last weekend, I was back in New York and decided to explore some museums I hadn’t visited before. Here are three hidden gems I discovered: 🎯 Fraunces Tavern Museum The first floor is a tavern that has been in operation since 1762, while the second and third floors house the museum. The space is larger than I imagined, preserving and documenting the history of the American Revolutionary War. Built in 1719, it was once a private residence for the De Lancey family, a hotel, and one of the most important taverns during the Revolutionary War. 🕰️ On weekends, there’s a Public Tour at 2 PM (included with admission). 🎫 🎯 The Museum at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) From January 24, 2024, to August 25, 2024, there’s a special exhibition called “Statement Sleeves.” It showcases the design and stories behind various types of sleeves from the 18th century to the present. 🎨 🎯 Museum of Chinese in America This small but exquisite museum displays the history of Chinese immigration in the US, from the Gold Rush to the present, including the Chinese Exclusion Act and the lives of Chinese Americans during World War I and II, and the Cold War. 🌈 From December 6, 2023, to May 26, 2024, there’s a special exhibition called “Five Senses of Chinatown.” It features children’s drawings capturing life in Chinatown and the stories they reflect. The exhibition hall has many small jars that you can open to try and guess the scents inside. 🌸 #NYCLife #MuseumVisits 🗽🌟
