Okutama Gyokudo Art Museum π
After three attempts, I finally got to visit! This museum is so beautiful it brought me to tears. πΈ Exiting Okutama O-Taki Station, I walked across a bridge and then followed the steep mountain path down to the Tama Riverbank to catch a glimpse of this gem. The museum was built in memory of the Japanese painting master, Kawabata Gyokudo (1873-1957). ππHe lived in Ome City's O-Taki area in his later years and created numerous works here. The museum displays his pieces from age 15 to 84. πΈ Designed by the renowned Japanese architect, Yoshida Iwao, the museum blends traditional farmhouse and temple styles. The karesansui (dry landscape) garden is incredibly atmospheric and is hailed as one of the "Top 20 Japanese Gardens." ππ The garden is paved with natural stones from the Tama River, exuding a strong Zen vibe. The scenery changes with the seasons, with cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves being the most distinctive! Gyokudo Art Museum ππ γ198-0174 πΈ1-75 O-Taki, Ome City, Tokyo #Tokyo πΈ
