Omaha | A Band Performance Right After We Arrived! 🄁

One of Omaha’s two most famous Chinese restaurants—and like most in the U.S., it serves either Sichuan or Cantonese cuisine šŸ˜‚. This one is Cantonese! Located across from a park, we got lucky: right after stepping out of the car, we caught a live band playing šŸŽµāœØ. šŸ  Name: Golden China Restaurant šŸ“ Address: 6559 Ames Ave, Omaha, NE 68104 šŸƒ Ambience: Clean and tidy. 🧸 Peppers with Pork Tripe Strips ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A surprisingly delicious dish! Sweet, salty, and spicy with a rich black bean sauce. The tripe wasn’t exactly ā€œstripsā€ā€”more like thick pieces, but they were tender and chewy, probably pre-boiled before stir-frying. Very satisfying! 🧸 Water Spinach with Fermented Tofu ⭐ The flavor was good… until I found a hair in it 😣. I called over the staff, but their response was disappointing—no apology, no offer to remake the dish, refund, or discount. Later that day, I had an upset stomach, likely due to this dish. 🧸 Char Siu (BBQ Pork) ⭐⭐⭐ The color looked promising, but the sauce was too thin and the meat a bit dry. Not the best char siu I’ve had. 🧸 Roast Pork (Siu Yuk) ⭐⭐⭐ Better than the char siu! Served with sugar on the side—though it’d be nicer if cut into smaller pieces. šŸ“Œ Verdict: Hard to rate! I enjoyed the tripe dish, but the hygiene issue and poor customer service really let it down. As a restaurant, pinching pennies over a single dish won’t help retain customers in the long run. 😤 #OmahaEats #OmahaFood #FoodReview #CantoneseFood #USFoodie #NebraskaDining
