Omaha | A Band Performance Right After We Arrived! š„
One of Omahaās two most famous Chinese restaurantsāand like most in the U.S., it serves either Sichuan or Cantonese cuisine š. This one is Cantonese! Located across from a park, we got lucky: right after stepping out of the car, we caught a live band playing šµāØ. š Name: Golden China Restaurant š Address: 6559 Ames Ave, Omaha, NE 68104 š Ambience: Clean and tidy. š§ø Peppers with Pork Tripe Strips āāāāā A surprisingly delicious dish! Sweet, salty, and spicy with a rich black bean sauce. The tripe wasnāt exactly āstripsāāmore like thick pieces, but they were tender and chewy, probably pre-boiled before stir-frying. Very satisfying! š§ø Water Spinach with Fermented Tofu ā The flavor was good⦠until I found a hair in it š£. I called over the staff, but their response was disappointingāno apology, no offer to remake the dish, refund, or discount. Later that day, I had an upset stomach, likely due to this dish. š§ø Char Siu (BBQ Pork) āāā The color looked promising, but the sauce was too thin and the meat a bit dry. Not the best char siu Iāve had. š§ø Roast Pork (Siu Yuk) āāā Better than the char siu! Served with sugar on the sideāthough itād be nicer if cut into smaller pieces. š Verdict: Hard to rate! I enjoyed the tripe dish, but the hygiene issue and poor customer service really let it down. As a restaurant, pinching pennies over a single dish wonāt help retain customers in the long run. š¤ #OmahaEats #OmahaFood #FoodReview #CantoneseFood #USFoodie #NebraskaDining
