One-Day Itinerary for Ordos (City Edition) 🚗🌄

1. Yike Aobao (24/7, Free) ⛰️ Walk about 1km from the entrance to the Aobao, then climb 162 steps to the top. Driving tip: Take the side road to skip the 1km walk and 32 steps! Best time: Sunset (~5 PM) – golden light over the city! 🌇 But don’t come too late, as lighting gets dim even before sunset. 2. (Mongolian: "Ulan Living Buddha Palace") 🏯 (Closes 5:30 PM, Free, Electric Cart ¥10) One of Inner Mongolia’s only two Living Buddha sites (Tibetan Buddhism, reincarnation lineage). Electric Cart Stops: 1️⃣ Museum: History of Tibetan Buddhism + artifacts & thangkas. 2️⃣ Main Hall: Buddha statues (no photos!). Side exhibits: thangka & clay Buddha displays – don’t miss! 3️⃣ Office Area: A sealed round pagoda + a "Three Buddhas" hall. 4️⃣ Café: Skip if not needed. Time: Quick visit (~50 mins) or detailed tour (~2 hrs). The cart is cheap and frequent—worth it! 3. Genghis Khan Mausoleum (¥90, Cart ¥10) 🏹 A 5A-rated site (mostly for historical significance). Though it’s a cenotaph, it houses 8 sacred white chambers (no photos!). Route: Main Gate → Statue → Altan Gander Aobao → Mausoleum → Sulde Altar → Ishi Khatun Shrine. 99 steps lead to the mausoleum (long but not steep). Elderly visitors can take the cart directly to the top (¥10) and walk down. #InnerMongolia #Ordos #OrdosTravel #OrdosAttractions 🌏✨
