๐ One Italian Takes Over Another! ๐
The Italian takeover of Northcote Road in Battersea continues! First came Numero Uno at the south end, followed by Osteria Antica Bologna and Buona Sera up north. Then, two pizzerias joined the scene in the middle: one of the first branches of Franco Manca, and what I believe is the only branch of Manifesto Pizzas. Next came two cafรฉs and delis: Pintus and Pizzicheria Grapelli โ the latter even has its own butcher shop! ๐ฅฉ Then there's Al Gusto, specializing in brunch, not to mention the occasional pizza stall doing takeaway business. In short, thereโs been an explosion of Italian eateries, with new ones steadily replacing the old. So itโs no surprise that a branch of Made In Italy has been taken over by the latest outpost of La Mia Mamma โ the Italian chef-led group that convinced Stanley Tucci to host one of his Italian culinary adventures not in Tuscany, but at La Mia Mammaโs first branch on the Chelsea/Fulham border! ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐น During the soft-opening weekend of the new Battersea branch, customers (including us!) queued up eagerly. We opted for the rotating selection of appetizers, served in two rounds during our visit, including: Cheese slices ๐ง Salami and pickles ๐ฅ Parmesan eggplant ๐ Burrata and vegetable salad ๐ฅ Polenta cakes A bowl of couscous One of the โMammasโ made the rounds, offering complimentary bread ๐ฅ. For our mains, we chose: Margherita pizza ๐ A hearty lamb and potato stew ๐ฅ And the star of the show: two beautifully seared tuna steaks with vegetables ๐๐ฟ The set menu pricing was admittedly a bit confusing. ๐ฌ La Mia Mamma is undoubtedly a popular and fresh addition to the Italian lineup on Northcote Road โ though with so much competition, it still has to work hard to stand out! ๐ช #LaMiaMamma #NorthcoteRoad #BatterseaEats #ItalianTakeover #StanleyTucci
