Oxford's Down-to-Earth Food Guide 😍🍜

5⃣️ Afternoon Tea at St Mary's Church Enjoy tea with a view of the iconic Bodleian Library across the street. Sip your drink while listening to church bells and watching Oxford students rush by. πŸ΅πŸ””πŸ“š πŸ’– What to Eat in Oxford So many delicious options beyond the usual London chains! 1⃣️ Zhang Ji (Must-try! 😍) A Chinese restaurant with massive portions! The server warned us: two people should order max three dishes (or you’ll need a doggy bag!). πŸ”₯ Must-orders: Spicy dry pot, pork with pickled cabbage & noodles, braised pork bones, Northeastern salad, Xinjiang-style big plate chicken. Price: Very reasonable! 2⃣️ Thaikhun A fantastic Thai restaurant in the city center with authentic decor and rare regional dishes. πŸ“Œ Tip: Book ahead – we waited 15 mins walking in on weekend. 3⃣️ Noodle Stand in Covered Market Tiny family-run spot with just two tables. Their hot & sour noodles were my obsession two years ago – now I also love their lamb noodle soup! πŸ₯‘ Perfect for a quick bite or takeaway. 4⃣️ Bird & Blend Tea Co. A tea lover’s dream! Nearly 100 unique flavours. Staff brew different samples daily. 🍡 I bought Gingerbread and Spiced Pumpkin Cake blends – amazing with milk! Ask them for brewing tips – like getting a secret recipe! πŸ’° Β£4 for 15 tea bags. Gift boxes available too. 5⃣️ The Grand CafΓ© Britain’s first-ever coffeehouse! We tried brunch and afternoon tea (you can order individually, no set per-person requirement). βœ… Risotto was good – coffee was just okay. 6⃣️ Rooftop Bars with Views πŸ’– Quod Rooftop – Open to all (not just hotel guests). πŸ’– The Varsity Club – Book ahead (small deposit required). πŸ’– Tower Tour – Not a bar, but great for panoramic views! 🏨 Where to Stay in Oxford Beyond hotels on High Street, check for college guest rooms! Some Oxford colleges offer these to tourists (limited availability). πŸ›οΈ You’ll stay in student dorm-style rooms and eat breakfast in their grand dining halls – just like Hogwarts! πŸ§™β€β™‚οΈπŸ½οΈ Note: Comfort level may be lower than hotels. #Oxford #LifeInUK #UKTravel #FoodGuide #HiddenGems ✨
