🎉 Oxford Celebrates the Dragon Boat Festival
The Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) at the University of Oxford hosted a vibrant Dragon Boat Festival cultural event at Worcester College 🏫🎋. The celebration featured a variety of traditional activities including zongzi wrapping 🫔, calligraphy writing 🖌️, sugar painting 🍯, scented sachet making 🌸, tea ceremonies 🍵, gold leaf art ✨, and lacquer fan crafting 🎨—each booth attracted large crowds and was full of energy! I signed up to teach zongzi wrapping 🥢, and our table was packed the entire time—a continuous flow of people eager to learn 📚💫. Freshly boiled zongzi were served on-site; both savory and sweet versions were delicious, though the savory pork zongzi seemed to be the crowd favorite 😋👑. Looks like there are quite a few southern Chinese students here in Oxford! It was heartwarming to see everyone—both Chinese and international friends—coming together to enjoy these beautiful traditions 🫶🌍. Festivals like these truly bring people closer, no matter how far from home we are. Happy Dragon Boat Festival! 🐉🎏 #LifeInTheUK #DragonBoatFestival #Zongzi #OxfordUniversity 🎓✨
