Parsons' Limited-Edition Octopus Rice – A Delightful Surprise 🦑
I usually hesitate to post about food recommendations because everyone’s taste is so different, but this meal was genuinely the happiest one I’ve had since returning to London. 🌟 This rice dish isn’t like traditional Spanish squid ink rice. It uses a rounder grain, specifically Fregola (similar to Italian pearl couscous). Each piece is packed with a delicious, briny, oceanic flavor. It’s not the usual squid ink rice texture but rather chewier and more bouncy. 🥢 The broth feels like it’s been simmered for hours with seafood stock. It’s incredibly flavorful yet not greasy at all. 🥣 The octopus legs are amazing too! They’re not the Spanish smoked variety. Instead, they’re coated in sausage crumb breadcrumbs, giving them a crispy exterior that wraps around the bouncy octopus meat. With each bite, the smoky, spicy sausage fat seeps out, offering an incredibly rich and layered taste. It’s way more complex than just fried octopus! 🦑 On top, there are some red onions that add a fresh crunch, and a squeeze of lemon juice makes it perfectly non-greasy. 🍋 I was over the moon while eating this and plan to visit a few more times before it’s off the menu. 🥳 BTW, their oysters are super fresh, lemon sole is my favorite, and they have a boiled giant shrimp that’s incredibly delicious. Their previous clam chowder was also amazing – I really love this place! ❤️ I ordered the octopus as a main with a starter and a drink, and it came out to around £40-50 per person. 💰 #LondonFood #CoventGardenEats #LondonLife #RestaurantHopping #OctopusRice #Foodie
