Pennsylvania Lancaster|Amish Village Was So Healing 💛
“In the past, life was slower” — and here it feels tangible. The biggest surprise of this trip was the Amish Village. So incredibly chill—everything just slows down, and the sense of relaxation is next level 🌾😌. Every corner looks like a pastoral postcard, but the real-life views are even more stunning. 👉 Strasburg Rail Road – A steam train ride 🚂. You can book tickets online in advance. Highly recommend FIRST CLASS LOUNGE, Car #118. The vintage carriage has swiveling seats, and the whole ride takes about 45 minutes. If the weather's nice, the open-air carriage would be amazing too! 👉 Abe’s Buggy Rides – A horse-drawn carriage tour through Amish life. You can also feed the animals 🐴🥕. The grandma who guided our tour shared so much—like how 80% of Amish people now use mobile phones, many have transitioned to non-Amish lifestyles, they don’t use electricity but rely on solar panels, and some “Amish” farms/shops aren’t actually run by Amish but use the name to attract tourists. This tour is better suited for adults and older kids—our little one fell asleep halfway through the ride 😴. 👉 We stayed at AmishView Inn & Suites – very clean with garden views, though the room felt damp during the two rainy days we were there 🌧️. 👉 Smokehouse BBQ next to the hotel – affordable, super friendly service, and most importantly… delicious! 🍖🔥 👉 Shady Maple Smorgasbord – Said to be the largest buffet in the U.S. Lots of people, food was decent but not extraordinary. We were a bit sad to miss Old Windmill Farm and Cherry Crest Adventure Farm since they were closed during our visit. #LancasterPA #AmishCountryPA #PATravel #SlowDownAndEnjoy 🚜💨
