Our Stay at Mala Mala Game Reserve We stayed at the Mala Mala Game Reserve, located near Kruger National Park. After comparing several options, we found that its location is relatively ideal, featuring open savannas to dense woodlands, allowing for superb wildlife viewing in their natural habitats. Our guide mentioned that they have over 180 staff members. 🌟 Highlights of the Trip 1️⃣ Wildlife Spectacular: Easily encountered the African "Big Five" (lions, leopards, rhinoceros, elephants, and buffaloes), as well as antelopes, African wild dogs, and more. The lions actually passed by at a distance of just two meters! For more detailed animal sightings, check out another one of my notes. 2️⃣ Gourmet Feast: Throughout the trip, a variety of Western cuisine was provided. There were plenty of choices, and on birthdays, special surprises were offered. They also celebrated different festivals. Since we were there during Easter, both afternoon tea and dinner had corresponding themes! You didn't have to worry about the price of the wine either! Everything was included. In terms of hygiene, we were fortunate to witness the clean and tidy kitchen firsthand, so every bite of food was enjoyed with confidence. 3️⃣ Comfortable Accommodation: Rooms were cleaned twice daily by dedicated staff. A free laundry service was provided each day (up to 12 items). Some rooms even faced the Sand River, offering the chance to spot elephants and hippos. There was also a pool overlooking the Sand River, perfect for photo opportunities. A reading room was available, and massages were offered for a fee. All the staff were extremely friendly. ✅ Overall: The service and facilities were of the same quality as a 5-star establishment outside. The itinerary was well-arranged, not too tiring, with two outings per day, making it very beginner-friendly! Many children and elderly people have visited, and it's a top choice for families with kids. Day One: 12:30 PM: Arrived at Skukuza Airport 1:30 PM: One-hour drive to Main Camp 3:30 PM: Afternoon tea followed by a wildlife viewing trip, with a picnic at sunset 7:00 PM: Returned to the camp for dinner Day Two/Three: 6:00 AM: Woke up early for a light breakfast, then set out to see the animals 10:30 AM: Returned to the camp for a hearty breakfast , then back to the rooms for rest or free time for about 3 hours 3:30 PM: Afternoon tea followed by another wildlife viewing trip 7:00 PM: Returned for dinner. On the second evening, there was an African cultural performance and a bonfire under a large tree Day Four: 6:00 AM: Woke up early for a light breakfast, then set out to see the animals 9:30 AM: Returned to the camp for breakfast 11:00 AM: Packed up and headed to the airport 📝 Booking Booked through the Discover Africa website. Apart from the cost, there really aren't any other drawbacks! Feel free to ask any questions, but please make your own reservations. There's no obligation to tip, but it's appreciated if you do. Do not touch the wildlife, as they are truly wild. On the room's desk, there are free postcards that can be mailed from the reception for 20 ZAR. #LesserKnownCountryTravel #SouthAfricaTravel #Africa #AnimalMigration #Travel
