Philadelphia—Astonishing Vibes from the Historic Capital 🫨
Overall, I had a great impression of Philadelphia! Below are some must-visit spots and my personal experiences: Elfreth’s Alley A charming little street that feels very British 🇬🇧. If any UK international students are reading this, let me know how similar it really is! It’s packed with visitors and perfect for photos. Independence Hall This is the spot featured on the 💲100 bill—a place full of historical significance. Definitely a symbolic location worth visiting. JFK Plaza Home to the famous LOVE sculpture 🧡. It’s much bigger up close! There’s also a small market nearby—feel free to explore if you’re interested. City Hall An absolutely impressive building 🏗️. I took photos from two different angles. Located right in the city center, it gives off a grand and solemn vibe. Reading Terminal Market A great place for food! It reminds me of Quincy Market in Boston. You’ll find Philly’s signature cheesesteak here—one bite and you’ll taste the rich, juicy beef. Highly recommend trying one! NBA - Philadelphia 76ers 🏀 I was lucky enough to catch a game against the Clippers and even saw Harden! The atmosphere was electric with plenty of entertainment before, during, and after the game. Best part? Tickets were only $10! Can’t beat that.😂 Eastern State Penitentiary A century-old abandoned prison that feels quite eerie. It was my first time visiting a prison, and it was oddly fascinating. Though rundown, it’s full of history. What stood out was the thick visitor guidebook—available in Chinese too!—filled with engaging stories that make you feel like you’re in a real-life mystery game. Highly recommend! UPenn (University of Pennsylvania) A must-visit! One highlight is the Wharton School—every business student’s dream. Another is UPenn’s massive emblem, which looks even bigger up close. The Wharton buildings are also very photogenic and perfect for pictures.😁 Philadelphia Museum of Art I’m no art expert, but I was still blown away after visiting. The huge paintings on the second or third floor are particularly impactful. I’d recommend a visit here—whether you’re into art or not, there are plenty of treasures to appreciate.🙌 A Few Tips: Many people worry about safety. My advice: take public transportation during the day and use ride-sharing at night. Lots of bloggers have shared maps of safer and riskier areas—check those out too.😘 Most attractions are within walking distance 🚶. A 3-day, 2-night trip is ideal. Many museums offer student discounts, so bring your student ID! Personal rating: 8/10 — Philadelphia is definitely worth a visit! #Philadelphia #PhillyLife #NBA #UPenn #WhartonSchool #TravelUSA #StudyAbroadLife
