Philadelphia’s Barcelona Wine Bar: 8/10!!

🍕Finally got three people together to try this Spanish restaurant. Overall, the Tapas exceeded expectations, but the paella was a bit underwhelming. Bread: The pre-meal bread was savory, soft on the inside (almost like a steamed cake), and crispy on the outside, though a bit too crunchy. Delicious! Mushroom: Grilled mushrooms (portabella variety?) served with what the menu called Salsa verde (green sauce), but I thought it tasted more like pesto. It’s been a while since I had it, and my friend and I took a while to figure it out. It was fragrant but a bit greasy. Pork Belly: So crispy! Crispy-skinned roasted pork belly, tender on the inside, with no off-putting pork smell at all. The chopped red peppers on top had a tangy tomato flavor (reminded me of Guizhou’s red sour soup 🧐). 🌟Truffled Bikini: Super crispy butter-fried bread (a bit greasy) + cheese + ham. So good, but there was no truffle flavor. Spiced Beef Empanadas: Fried empanadas (the filling tasted like spaghetti Bolognese) with a red sauce that had a strong red pepper flavor. 🌟Eggplant Caponata: A sweet and savory version of fried eggplant with tomatoes and onions. It was a bit salty, but I could eat two big bowls of rice with it. #StudentMeals #PhillyFood #PhillyEats #PhillyRestaurants #SpanishCuisine
