Philadelphia|The Dandelion’s English Brunch Is “Too Authentic
Tried one of Philly’s popular brunch spots, The Dandelion, for their British-style brunch — and it perfectly captured why British food has a bad reputation 😅. Don’t try their fish & chips — the sign outside is a trap! Let’s start with the positives: The atmosphere and decor are lovely — classic British pub vibes, wooden furniture, warm lighting, and cute dog-themed touches 🐕. Great for photos or a casual hangout with friends. But sadly, the food let us down hard. Here’s what we ordered: 1️⃣ Crab Croquettes The most “normal” of the three — crispy fried crab balls, but the spicy mayo dipping sauce was oddly terrible. How do you mess up spicy mayo?? 2️⃣ French Toast Texture was nice — crispy outside, tender inside — but the syrup was unbearably sweet 🍯. Each bite felt like a sugar overload. Needed black coffee just to balance it. 3️⃣ Fish and Chips The real letdown. The batter was overly salty, while the fish itself was bland. Tartar sauce was forgettable, and the fries were overcooked (hard outside, undercooked inside). Verdict: Great vibes, but the food is not worth it. Come for drinks and photos if you must — but if you’re after good British brunch, maybe skip this one. 💰 FYI: Three dishes + a cocktail + tip came to $90. #PhillyEats #TheDandelion #BrunchFail #BritishFood #PhillyBrunch #FoodReview #SkipThis 🍳
