Philadelphia | Authentic Portuguese Egg Tarts

Located in Fishtown, Gilda is a trendy Portuguese bakery that became an instant hit in Philly. My colleague recommended it shortly after it opened. Specializing in pastries and brunch, it’s particularly famous for its Portuguese egg tarts, which are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. If you want to try them, come early or check the latest updates on Instagram. ❤️ Portuguese Egg Tart (Pastel de Nata) I came early on my second visit to get this. Only the original and sea salt dark chocolate flavors were left. The crust is thin and crispy, and the custard is rich and just a little sweet. It’s delicious, but don’t set your expectations too high—KFC’s version still reigns supreme. ❤️ Pork Cutlet Sandwich (Bifana) The wine-marinated pork cutlet is incredibly tender, and the Portuguese bread is fragrant and crispy. Paired with tangy Dijon mustard, it’s a refreshing combination. ❤️ Portuguese Doughnut (Bola de Berlim) I tried the guava flavor, which was highly recommended. The dough is exceptionally soft and light, not too sweet, with a hint of tropical fragrance. No wonder it’s a must-order at every table. ✅ Passion Fruit Tart On my first visit, I missed out on the egg tarts, so I settled for this. It’s quite small but very refreshing and appetizing. ❤️ Lime Iced Coffee (Mazagran) This drink, already popular in my home country, is similar to fruit tea and perfect for cooling off in the heat. ❤️ Wild Blueberry Latte A seasonal special, the blueberry’s grassy aroma blends well with the smoky flavor of the coffee. It’s really tasty. #Philadelphia #PhillyFood #PhillyExploration #EggTarts
