Philadelphia | Is Bassetts the World’s Best Ice Cream?

🧋On this trip to Philadelphia, I finally got to try the legendary Bassetts Ice Cream! This brand has an incredible history of 163 years, making it the oldest ice cream brand in the United States. It has been around since 1861—truly a grandparent of ice cream! 🧋Bassetts is said to be the ice cream of choice for high-end venues like the White House, Capitol Hill, and Wall Street. It has even been praised by The New York Times and Time magazine as “the world’s best ice cream.” I thought this might just be hype, but I was genuinely amazed after trying it. I ordered the matcha🍵 and pistachio flavors. The matcha🍵 was incredibly smooth, not overly sweet like some green tea flavors, but with a genuine tea aroma, similar to the aftertaste you get in a matcha latte. As for the pistachio, I have to rave about it! The nutty flavor was rich and intense, and the texture was incredibly creamy.
