Philadelphia | Machine Shop

I’ve been to Bok many times, but always in the afternoon—missing the perfect time to satisfy my pastry cravings! Last week, I ran into a coworker at Thank You Thank You (still my favorite coffee shop so far!), and they said one of their weekly reasons for driving into the city is to pick up pastries from Machine Shop. Today, I finally made the trip south—since I got up early and it wasn’t too cold yet—and it was so worth it! So delicious, and so popular! There was a small line as soon as Bok opened, but since it was a Saturday morning, that’s totally understandable—and the wait wasn’t long at all. 🥐 Machine Shop shares a seating area with Two Persons (the coffee shop next door). The tables have outlets for charging, so it’s pretty easy to find a spot to sit! ☕ 🍐 Pear Tart The tart crust is packed with milky and buttery aromas—super crispy! On top, there’s pear cream mixed with small pear chunks, and in the last bite, I even tasted candied ginger—such a nice surprise! The cream isn’t too rich, so it tastes light and fresh. And I have to give it the highest compliment a Chinese person can give: it’s not too sweet! 😋 🧀 Jammy Egg + Hot Pepper Stew + Feta I was totally drawn to the runny yolk—this was the perfect balance to the sweet pear tart! There’s a tiny crispy layer on top of the jammy egg. I’m such a huge fan of runny yolks, I could cry! 🥹 The Chocolate Praline I saw while waiting in line looked incredibly tempting. Next time, I’ll leave my “jammy egg obsession” at home and come with my “chocolate lover’s brain” instead! 🍫 📍 821 Dudley St, Philadelphia, PA 19148 #Philadelphia #PhiladelphiaLife #PhiladelphiaFood #Pastry #DailyPastry #COTDCoffeeShop #Coffee #CoffeeRecommendation #WeekendJoyMoments #LifeNeedsASweetTouch
