Philadelphia | Recent Cafe/Pastry Exploration Roundup
đCĂ phĂȘ Roaster Located in the notorious Kensington neighborhood, it feels quite safe during the dayâunlike what you might see in online videos. Still, itâs best not to linger on the streets. The shop is bustling and always packed. The Egg Coffee is a bit bitter, but personally, I can handle it. The Sando is spot-on, slightly spicy, and surprisingly pairs perfectly with the bitter coffee. A match made in heaven! đTang's Bakery Participated in a pop-up event with the previous shop. Itâs essentially American-style pastries, which I couldnât really appreciate. The pandan cake didnât have much pandan flavor, and I felt overwhelmed after just a few bites. Sigh... đRival Bros A classic Philadelphia cafe that never disappoints. This seasonal strawberry rose flavor is very aromatic, and the presentation is lovely. Love it! đźMachine Shop Although I took photos of the desserts, I actually bought a mushroom danish. It was delicious! However, I probably wouldnât make a special trip for it. Almost all pastries here look great, and youâre unlikely to find anything unpalatable. Worth checking out if youâre in the area. đKettle Black A community bakery in Fishtown that usually sells out within two hours of opening. The owner takes random days off, which is quite whimsical. The croissants are average, nothing special. But the cheese bagel is solidly made and has an unexpectedly addictive texture. Bread lovers should enjoy this place and understand its popularity. #GlobalVillageFoodieContest #Sweethunter
