Philadelphia · Laurel Restaurant 🍽️🇫🇷
Thanks to Boss Wei for the generous treat 🥂—happy birthday, wishing you prosperity and wealth! 👍 Okay, so about this French spot: I think my mom would love it. That’s all I have to say, thank you 🙏. Not that it’s bad, but it felt like diving into a French pickle jar—everything had something pickled in it! 😅 Portions are small, but you’ll leave about 80% full. Normal appetites might stop there, but I’m an insatiable snack monster—after this, I went home for hot and sour noodles and hotpot vermicelli 🍜🔥. Nothing beats our Chinese comfort food. Here’s the tasting menu in order (might be chef’s new experiments—we were the taste testers 😆): 🌟 Oyster + Roe – Decent. 🌟 Cucumber with Pumpkin Seed Sauce + Intense Celery Juice – Barely touched it, celery juice was like herbal medicine 💊—sent it back. 🌟 Tuna – Just three slices, okay. 🌟 Replacement Salad (because the cucumber dish was a no-go) – Actually pretty good! 🌟 Mushrooms topped with Fried Potato Sticks – Salty but delicious! Fried food always wins 🍟. 🌟 Fish + Seaweed Gel – The star of the night! Creamy sauce, fresh fish—everyone agreed. 🌟 Pork – Looked like char siu, tasted good! As an international student, I’m just glad it wasn’t gamey 🙏. (Though why the pickled veg on top? French pickles strike again… 😂) 🍮 Panna Cotta – Basically cream over pickled strawberries… yes, pickled strawberries 🍓. Chef, are you okay? After some thought: My mom would probably enjoy this. Me? I’m just a simple soul who can’t fully appreciate fine dining 😅. But the fish and pork and mushrooms were actually tasty! #Philly #PhillyFood #Philadelphia #FrenchCuisine #MomWouldLoveIt #TastingMenu
