Philadelphia · Yanaga Kappo Izakaya|New Izakaya Spot 🏮
Went into Philly for dinner! We made a reservation ahead of time — the limited available slots made it seem super popular, but when we got there, plenty of tables were open. Since it’s new, drink options are still limited. We ordered two: the yuzu one was nice, but the matcha drink tasted a bit off 🍵. We didn’t order too much for two people: 🍙 DUCK ONIGIRI – Made with glutinous rice, pan-fried crispy outside — pretty tasty, though the crust was a bit salty. 🍣 Sashimi – We had chu toro, yellowtail, salmon, and ora king salmon. Not experts, but it felt fresh and melted in the mouth. 🍜 PORK TANTAN MAZEMEN – Mixed everything together. Meat tasted like chashu but not a lot of it. Flavor was decent, but I preferred the cold noodles. 🍜 JAPANESE COLD NOODLES – Liked this one more! More toppings, and both noodles came with sesame sauce — kind of reminded me of hot dry noodles 😂. The restaurant feels Western-owned (likely not Asian). The whole vibe is pretty Westernized, with Ghibli movies playing on TV — gave off “American anime fan” energy? 🎬 🚗 Parking nearby is tricky — street only. Took a while to find a spot since we went on a Friday. 💰 Total: $127.xx + tip 📍 637 N 3rd St, Philadelphia, PA 19123 #Philly #PhillyEats #PhillyLife #USA ##SushiHeaven #FineDining #PhillyFoodie 🥢🍶✨
