Philadelphia Dim Sum Review | Dim Sum House by Jane G’s

Located close to the University of Pennsylvania and my place, I’ve visited Dim Sum House by Jane G’s several times. The restaurant offers a cozy and modern atmosphere, complete with a bar and a pool table. Their dishes are delicately prepared and reasonably priced, making it a hidden gem—though it seems underrated, as I’ve noticed fewer Chinese diners here. Highlights include their fried rice—perfectly non-greasy with each grain distinct—and the Kung Pao Chicken, which has a mild, approachable spice level. Among the dim sum, I strongly recommend the Sweet and Sour Spareribs: tender, flavorful, and only $9 for a small portion. The pumpkin pancakes, served fresh out of the fryer, are wonderfully soft and chewy. Also worth trying are the shrimp shumai, which are packed with full meat filling instead of sticky rice. A small note: the chicken feet and eggplant leaned a bit salty for my taste, and the soup dumplings were fairly standard—nothing particularly memorable. Overall, a solid spot for satisfying and affordable dim sum in the neighborhood! #PhillyFood #UPennEats #UniversityCityEats #PhillyChineseFood
