Philadelphia Filipino Cuisine | Perlaβs Kamayan Feast ππ
I finally visited Perla last week. This Filipino hand-eating feast has been on my Google list for two months. The restaurant specializes in modern Filipino flavors. The overall atmosphere is cozy and a bit sophisticated, making it perfect for a gathering with good friends. The restaurant offers a Set Kamayan Menu at $50 per person. The presentation is spectacular when the dishes are served. A whole leaf is laid out on the table, covered with an array of dishes. Itβs a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds! π₯ π½ Kamayan Feast | An Extremely Rich Menu π Sinangag | Garlic Fried Rice π The classic Filipino fried rice features distinct grains of rice with a rich garlic aroma. It pairs perfectly with various meat dishes! π Chicken Inasal | Lemongrass Roast Chicken ππ₯ The chicken is marinated to perfection, infused with flavors of lemongrass, annatto seeds, vinegar, and soy sauce. The skin is slightly charred, and the meat is incredibly tender. Itβs delicious on its own and even better with a dip in the sauce! π Fried Pork | Crispy Pork π·β¨ You can choose between Lechon Kawali (fried suckling pig) and Crispy Pata (fried pork knuckles). We went with Crispy Pata. The pork skin is fried to a golden, crispy finish, while the meat inside is soft, juicy, and tender. Dipped in vinegar and garlic sauce, itβs super fragrant! π Lumpia | Filipino Spring Rolls π₯ The filling consists of pork, carrots, mushrooms, onions, and ginger. The wrapper is fried to an ultra-thin and crispy texture. When you bite into it, you get a burst of savory meat filling. Paired with sweet and spicy sauce, itβs simply addictive! π Whole Fried Pompano | Fried Pompano Fish π MVP of the meal! The whole fish is fried to a crispy exterior with a tender, flaky interior. The fish is not dry and has a slight charred aroma. Paired with a special sauce, itβs incredibly appetizing! #Philadelphia #PhillyRestaurants #PhillyLife #PhillyExploration
