Philadelphia French Cuisine: Mabu Kitchen 😅

🌟On a whim, my friends and I decided to try this French restaurant for dinner. One major issue with this place is that there’s only one waiter, so the wait time for seating and checking out is quite long, and the dishes arrive slowly. After dark, the restaurant is extremely dimly lit—those few small light bulbs just don’t provide enough illumination. 🥰p2 Grilled Octopus The octopus is sliced from a large octopus leg, served with halved, skin-on baby potatoes. The sauce is quite oily, with bits of red pepper and tomato, giving it a slight tanginess. The base also includes chickpea puree (the menu says it’s toor dal, which is pigeon peas...?). The flavor reminds me a bit of Mexican dishes with beans, which isn’t really my thing. 🥘p3 Wild Mushroom & Burrata Toast The toast is made with nutty bread, baked to a crispy texture without getting soggy from the burrata. Great job! The burrata has a mild, milky aroma, and the wild mushrooms are slightly charred. The dish is topped with a honey-based sauce that has a sweet and tangy flavor, possibly with a hint of balsamic vinegar. It’s a refreshing taste that I didn’t expect. One friend thought it was a bit too sweet, but I think it’s worth a try. 🥩p4 Bay Scallops Gratin This baked dish features small scallops topped with a layer of creamy, baked cheese. It’s savory, with lots of green onions and leeks for seasoning. The accompanying toast is super crispy. 🌟p5 Ratatouille The sauce has a distinct bell pepper flavor, and my friend mentioned it also has a bit of a pickled radish taste. The dish is made with sliced, layered eggplant and zucchini, topped with crumbled feta cheese. The overall sauce is tangy. #PhiladelphiaFood #ExploringRestaurants #PhiladelphiaLife #StudentEats
