Philadelphia Restaurant Tasting Diary — Western Cuisine
Just an ordinary food review series — all opinions are my own 😋 Sabrina’s Café – Great spot for brunch near University City! Barcelona Wine Bar – Highly recommended!! My friend and I ordered nine dishes + finished all the bread — no misses! The seafood paella was amazing, and everything else we randomly picked was delicious. Prices are reasonable — definitely coming back! Friday Saturday Sunday – Perfect for dates 🥰. We tried the Tasting Menu ($130/person) — very refined, small portions. For fine dining enthusiasts. The space is quite small. Oyster House – Western-style seafood & oysters. As someone who’s not a big seafood fan, it’s not my thing 🥲. Around $100+ per person — don’t expect to feel fully satisfied if you’re used to hearty seafood meals. Cajun Heroes Seafood Boil & Po'Boys – Classic American-style seafood boil? Again, not for this seafood-averse eater 😅. More budget-friendly though — seafood lovers can try spots 4 and 5. Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse – All-you-can-eat Brazilian BBQ, around $50/person. You’ll leave stuffed — they keep coming with meat! A paradise for carnivores, but flavor-wise on par with average Chinese BBQ buffets 😕. Oloroso – As a Spanish restaurant, it definitely loses to Barcelona Wine Bar for me. Prices are higher, and it was noisy/crowded when I went — not ideal for a quiet meal. Won’t return, though many others seem to like it. Taste is subjective 🧐. Lascala's Fire – Italian spot near University City. Pretty good — their Lascala salad won my heart!! Great for weekday dine-in. Café La Maude – Must go, must go, must go!! A brunch heaven! One of the only three places in Philly I’d revisit — along with Barcelona Wine Bar and Kim’s Korean BBQ (mentioned in another post). #PhillyFood #FoodReview #BrunchSpot #SpanishCuisine #FineDining #Seafood #Steakhouse
