Philadelphia Restaurant Week Review: Caribou Café 🍽️🇫🇷
Restaurant Week menu — two courses for $20 (excluding tax & tip). Appetizer: 🐌 Escargot “Mange Tout” – French-style baked snails, savory with bits of cured ham. Served with Brussels sprouts in a sauce of crème fraîche and sherry vinegar — the acidity and richness balanced beautifully. Main Course: 🥩 Beef Bourguignon – Classic French red wine beef stew. The beef (likely chuck roast) was fall-apart tender, with mushrooms, baby carrots, and caramelized onions. Served over mashed potatoes with parsley. The red wine sauce was perfectly reduced — no harsh acidity. Dessert (added separately): 🥞 Crêpes Suzette – Topped with citrus glaze, sauce was light and sweet. The crêpes themselves were just okay — reminded me of homemade pancakes 😅. A bit underwhelming overall. Final thoughts: This place has a rustic French countryside vibe, no overly fancy ingredients or fussy techniques. The appetizer and main showed thoughtful pairing, saucing, and seasoning. Dessert was a bit plain, but overall, it holds up as a solid, established French spot in Philly. #PhillyRestaurantWeek #CaribouCafe #FrenchCuisine #FoodReview #PhillyEats #ClassicFrench 🥂
