Philadelphia Thai Cuisine | Grandma's Philly

I made plans with a good friend whom I hadn't seen for a long time, and we headed to Grandma's Philly, which we had researched beforehand. We arrived a little after three o'clock, and the restaurant wasn't very crowded, so we were seated near the bar area. After we were seated, it took a while for anyone to bring us the menu or water (which we noticed was available at every table). We had to call the staff twice before we could finally place our order. There were only three waiters in the entire restaurant. It seemed like they were both busy and not busy at the same time. โญ Chicken Satay Skewers ๐Ÿ’ฐ9.99 Four skewers of marinated chicken, plus two Indian flatbreads ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ, served with peanut sauce. Compared to other places I've tried, the chicken skewers here are flat, the sauce is minimal, and the flatbreads are too crispy. โญ Tom Yum Soup ๐Ÿ’ฐ8.28 We ordered the shrimp Tom Yum, which is a tangy and sweet soup that's very refreshing. โญ Thai Tea ๐Ÿ’ฐ5.69 When you come for Thai food, how can you not order the classic Thai tea? This one is definitely the best Thai tea I've ever had. It's not overly sweet and has a rich milk flavor. โญ Pad Thai ๐Ÿ’ฐ17.59 We chose the chicken version. It was quite impressive at first bite, but after a few more bites, it tasted a bit too sweet. They used thin rice noodles instead of the wide ones. โญ Thai Basil Stir-Fry ๐Ÿ’ฐ21.99 We ordered two servings because we were worried it wouldn't be enough. This is a Thai basil stir-fry with a choice of chicken or tofu. You can also add beef, shrimp, or crab for an extra charge. ๐Ÿ‹โ€๐ŸŸฉ Service Experience โญโญ We had to call three times to get a plate for sharing, and it took seven minutes to arrive. It also took five minutes to get the menu and place our order. When we asked for a high chair, no one responded for a long time. ๐Ÿ‹โ€๐ŸŸฉ Actually, we also ordered mango sticky rice and roast duck, but they hadn't arrived by the time we finished eating. The waiter didn't include them in the bill either, so they were probably forgotten. ๐Ÿ‹โ€๐ŸŸฉ When checking out, note that the tip is automatically included, so there's no need to add extra. ๐Ÿ‹โ€๐ŸŸฉ Paying with cash will save you a few dollars. I won't be coming back here, but the Thai tea is really delicious. ๐Ÿ‹โ€๐ŸŸฉ Restaurant Name: Grandma's Philly ๐Ÿ“ Address: 1304 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19107 #ThaiCuisine #PhillyThai #PhillyFood
