Ponagar Cham Tower in Nha Trang
The Ponagar Cham Tower is a Hindu architectural marvel dedicated to the Goddess Po Nagar, who protects the coastal waters of the southern Champa Kingdom, much like China's Mazu, the goddess of the sea. She blesses the fishermen who rely on the ocean for their livelihoods, hoping for safe journeys and bountiful catches. 🌊🐟 This structure resembles the temples of Angkor, earning it the nickname "Little Angkor." 🗿 Cultural characteristics shape national identity and character. The ocean is vastly different from the inland, and while naval expansion has its own challenges, it's not unlike the conflicts of land battles—though the ocean has its own perils! 😂 In ancient times, people depended on nature, reminding us of our insignificance in the face of the natural world. This leads to rituals of prayer and offerings, balancing the pursuit of desire with self-restraint, fostering gratitude and humility, as the heavens are always supreme. 🙏 Additionally, there's a fascinating connection: think about the pronunciation of "Po Nagar"—it’s quite similar to my own name! 😂 I’ve even visited Plum Village, the mindfulness meditation center founded by Thich Nhat Hanh in France, a renowned retreat that many in mainland China might not know about. 🌍 Located on a mountain near Bordeaux, you take a bus from the train station, venturing deep into the hills. The area is called Diulevol in French, meaning "Heavenly Will" or "Chosen Place." Why build a retreat here? How did I discover this place? Every time I arrive in Southeast Asia, I feel an incredible sense of ease, while a trip to the U.S. or Canada leaves me longing for home. It’s all so magical! ✨ #NhaTrang #Ponagar #CulturalHeritage
