Popular Comedy Festival SF Sketchfest Returns This January Featuring Elizabeth Banks And Randall Park

SF Sketchfest is a popular comedy festival that happens every January in the city. The festival is in its 23rd year and features film screenings, conversations with iconic comedians, sketch performances, improv, and more. The festival has a packed lineup, with dozens of events happening between January 15 and February 1, 2026. This year’s lineup features major comedians, including tributes to Elizabeth Banks, Randall Park , and more. Highlights of the lineup include a tribute to the women of SNL, featuring Ellen Cleghorne, Rachel Dratch, Robin Duke, Ana Gasteyer, Melanie Hutsell, Laraine Newman, Cheri Oteri, Julia Sweeney, and Nora Dunn. You can also expect numerous film and TV screenings, such as *Dirty Laundry, The Bob Waksberg Binge*, and even a *Futurama* event. Other events include comedic musical acts and podcasts. Of course, you can expect plenty of improv and sketch comedy during the festival. BATS Improv will perform several shows throughout, and Drunk Theater will host an SF versus LA show (with plenty of shots). Sketchfest takes place at venues across the city, including Cobb’s Comedy Club , Great Star Theater, the Great American Music Hall, and more throughout the two weeks. The comedy festival was started in 2001 as a way to showcase local comedy groups. The first festival was held at the Shelton Theatre in downtown San Francisco, and from there it has grown into a major event that has attracted some of the biggest comedy stars.
