Portland, Maine | Duckfat — A Unique Belgian Eatery 🦆
I’ve been spending more weekends in Maine these past few years 🏖️, and I’m consistently impressed by its relaxed vibe and amazing seafood 🦞. Portland’s downtown is packed with incredible food — so I’m starting a series to share some of my favorite spots! One standout is Duckfat — a tiny Belgian-inspired restaurant with just a handful of tables and a very cozy (read: cramped 😅) bar. Despite its size, it’s always fully booked! Here’s my personal take on this unique gem. 🦆 DUCKFAT POUTINE Their signature dish — fries cooked in duck fat 🍟, smothered in rich duck-based gravy and topped with cheese curds and scallions. Every bite is crispy, savory, and deeply aromatic. An absolute must-try! 🥗 GREEN GODDESS SALAD A refreshing and textural wonder! Crisp lettuce topped with toasted seeds and a fennel-forward dressing. We added duck confit for protein — and wow! The skin was crispy and flavorful, the meat tender and juicy. Perfect balance. 🥪 MONTREAL REUBEN This sandwich took me back to the Cuban sandwiches of Miami! 🥪 Packed with savory smoked brisket and tangy sauerkraut, all pressed inside beautifully crispy bread. Hearty, satisfying, and seriously delicious. A small place with big flavors — definitely worth the wait! Highly recommend booking ahead if you can 📅✨ #Maine #Portland#Duckfat #BelgianFood #MaineEats #FoodieReview 🍽️
