š May 2025 ā Kicked off our camping season at Presquāile Provincial Park! This marks our third Victoria Day weekend here, and each year feels warmer and more magical (maybe because we didnāt go too far north this time?). š Presquāile Provincial Park ā Just under 2 hours east of Toronto along Lake Ontarioās north shore, this park is a critical stopover for over 300 migratory bird species! šø Spring Blooms & Wildlife ⢠White Trilliums (Ontarioās official flower!) blanket the trailsāfun fact: the provincial logo looks like three people in a bathtub šš. ⢠Birding hotspots: Spot everything from warblers to herons, and donāt be surprised to see photographers with massive lenses stalking the perfect shot! š¤ Bird Migration 101 Attended an eye-opening lecture on bird migrationācovering: ā Why birds migrate ā North Americaās 3 major flyways ā Why Presquāile is a VIP rest stop for birds ā How birds navigate (spoiler: itās way cooler than GPS!). š¦ Bird Banding Demo (Missed It But Still Cool!) Scientists (and volunteers) attach tiny numbered bands to birdsā legs to track: ⢠Migration routes ⢠Lifespans ⢠Nesting habits Met a researcher who re-sighted a bird after 14 yearsāit was in Florida!
