🦜 Presqu'ile Park - A Birder's Paradise & Perfect Spring Getaway! 🌿

📅 May 2025 – Kicked off our camping season at Presqu’ile Provincial Park! This marks our third Victoria Day weekend here, and each year feels warmer and more magical (maybe because we didn’t go too far north this time?). 📍 Presqu’ile Provincial Park – Just under 2 hours east of Toronto along Lake Ontario’s north shore, this park is a critical stopover for over 300 migratory bird species! 🌸 Spring Blooms & Wildlife • White Trilliums (Ontario’s official flower!) blanket the trails—fun fact: the provincial logo looks like three people in a bathtub 🛁😂. • Birding hotspots: Spot everything from warblers to herons, and don’t be surprised to see photographers with massive lenses stalking the perfect shot! 🎤 Bird Migration 101 Attended an eye-opening lecture on bird migration—covering: ✔ Why birds migrate ✔ North America’s 3 major flyways ✔ Why Presqu’ile is a VIP rest stop for birds ✔ How birds navigate (spoiler: it’s way cooler than GPS!). 🦅 Bird Banding Demo (Missed It But Still Cool!) Scientists (and volunteers) attach tiny numbered bands to birds’ legs to track: • Migration routes • Lifespans • Nesting habits Met a researcher who re-sighted a bird after 14 years—it was in Florida! Imagine getting that update pre-smartphone era 📟✨. 🥾 Trail Attempt… Sort Of Tried hiking but rain turned paths into mud soup—retreated to the main road 🏃♂️💨. ⛺️ Campsite Vibes • Lakeside RV spots = prime real estate (if you’ve got wheels!). • Klaus’s Rain Curse ☔️ (Every.
