😍 Primo in Maine - A Michelin-Level Farm-to-Table Experience!
While no restaurants in New England currently hold a Michelin star, Maine is home to some exceptional dining spots. Primo, located on a small hillside in Rockland, feels like a charming European countryside villa surrounded by herbs, vegetables, and flowers. The restaurant sources almost everything—chicken, pork, vegetables, and fruits—from its own farm. Nearly every bite you enjoy at dinner comes straight from their backyard! 🍃 The warm, dim lighting and attentive service create a cozy, romantic atmosphere, making it a perfect place to savor a meal and appreciate the simple joys of life. Here’s what we ordered for two 👇 🥣 Vegan Curry Squash Soup A complimentary starter from the chef—what a warm welcome! The rich pumpkin and curry flavors blended beautifully, smooth and layered with the taste of autumn. 🦪 Oyster! Oyster! Oyster! Fried oysters with roasted wild mushrooms and oyster aioli—crispy on the outside, tender inside, with a savory-sweet hint of the sea. 🐦 Quail Stuffed with Focaccia and Foie Gras (Daily Special) The star of the night! The quail was perfectly roasted with a slightly crispy skin, stuffed with foie gras and focaccia. The aroma was rich, and the texture was incredibly complex. 🍝 Scallop Porcini Pasta with Prosciutto (Daily Special) I loved this one! House-made pasta with a perfect al dente bite, paired with tender scallops, fragrant porcini mushrooms, and salty prosciutto—a deeply satisfying dish. 🐟 Pan-Seared Local Skate My first time trying skate (I’d only seen it in aquariums before!). Served with mushrooms, vegetables, and hazelnuts, the fish was tender and delicate. The black pepper sauce added a nice kick, but it was a bit too salty. 🐖 Pork Saltimbocca One of Primo’s signature dishes. Pork rolled with prosciutto and sage, served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and a mushroom red wine sauce. Savory and smooth, but again, a little too salty. 🍫 Warm Belgian Chocolate Budino Pudding Cake A rich, warm chocolate pudding cake with coffee cocoa crisp ice cream and berries—absolutely delicious! 🍸 Drinks The non-alcoholic "Doctor’s Orders" was so good I ordered two! We also enjoyed a Pinot Noir and a Dolcetto, which paired perfectly with our main courses. 🌕 Although two of the main dishes were a bit too salty, the overall experience was fantastic. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were complex and well-layered. If you’re in Maine, Primo is worth a special trip to Rockland for a true farm-to-table experience. 📍Primo #MaineEats #PrimoMaine #MichelinDining #NewEngland #Maine #PortlandMaineFood #HiddenGemRestaurants #LocalFoodFavorites #Boston #MustTryRestaurants
