Quebec Food Adventure | A Restaurant from 1640
đ1640 Bistro This charming restaurant is housed in a historic building dating back to 1640, right across from ChĂąteau Frontenac. During summer, they mostly accept walk-ins (reservations only for extreme weather). Arrived at 11:40 AMâbreakfast service had just ended, but we got seated after a 20-25 minute wait. The menu is bilingual (English/French), and the staff speak English too. Appetizers đ€ Shrimp Mocktail : Fresh and refreshing! Served on a bed of avocado chunks. đ„ Caesar Salad with Roasted Chicken : Standard but well-made. đ Baked Snails : Aromatic with no weird aftertaste. Topped with fried bread (a bit oily). đ§ đ„Ł French Onion Soup : Just okay, nothing special. Mains đ€ Seafood Pasta : Loaded with jumbo shrimp, mussels, and tiny shrimp on linguine. Generous portion! đ Braised Beef Jowl : Huge portionâtender, 8-hour braised beef over mashed potatoes, with asparagus, carrots, and leafy broccoli (đ€©). đ Classic Burger : Exactly what it saysâketchup, mustard, and fries with mayo. Very classic. đ Drinks Tried their mocktail "Recolte" (one of only two options, the other being mojito). Way too sweetâhad to dilute it with water. Verdict Solid experience! Portions are huge, no major misses. The vibe matches the old-world charmâplaying vintage French tunes inside. Plus, the washroom was spotless đ. #CanadianCuisine #QuebecEats #Travel #HiddenGems #WesternFood #FoodieAdventures #HistoricEats #FoodPhotography
