Our independent trip was divided into two parts: Kruger and Cape Town.π₯°π₯°π₯° Kruger National Park is South Africa's largest nature reserve and a paradise for animal lovers, where you can see the African Big Five. There are three types of accommodation: public campsites, private campsites, and luxury lodges. Public campsites are basic but centrally located, making animal viewing both cheap and convenient. Private campsites are comparable to 4/5-star hotels, located outside the park, requiring a drive to see animals and an entrance feeπ’π’π’. Luxury lodges are in private game reserves, offering top-notch facilities, meals, and safari experiences. The only downside is the price. You can book safaris and other activities (like elephant and hippo encounters) at the front desk of each lodge. Spotting animals requires some luck; it's almost impossible to see all of the Big Five in one day. I'll post a separate note on the map and distribution of Kruger National Park later. Cape Town is South Africa's most famous destination and a world-class tourist city, named after the Cape of Good Hope. Here, I'll focus on the attractions: Table Mountain: The famous flat-topped mountain, also known as God's Table. Often covered in clouds due to the mountian's height, it looks like a tablecloth. You can hike to the top or take the cable car. It's a must-visit spot.π€π€π€ π³Whale Watching: From late July to early December, Hermanus offers a world-class whale-watching experience. Southern right whales form stable colonies here, making sightings almost guaranteed. When we went out to sea, a young whale swam right next to our boat and playfully slapped its tail! The town is also a popular retirement spot, with sunny weather, a mountain view, and a sea view. βοΈβοΈβοΈThe slow-moving clouds and playful whales create a fairytale-like European village atmosphere. π§Penguins: Boulders Beach in Simon's Town is home to the African penguin. You can see them diving into the sea to hunt and waddling cutely back to shore. They sometimes hide under the boardwalk steps to avoid the wind.π₯°π₯°π₯° I tried to touch one and almost got pecked by its sharp beak. Cape of Good Hope: The southwesternmost tip of the African continent, where cold and warm ocean currents meet and strong westerly winds create rough seas. Originally called the Cape of Storms, it was a perilous passage during the Age of Exploration. Travel Tips: If you're interested in animals, spend about three days in Kruger. If you want to relax, head straight to Cape Town! #SouthAfrica #SouthAfricaTravel #AfricaTravel #GreatMigration
