Random Notes on American Life - The Mysterious West Point (2)π
After driving for two hours from New York, we followed the Hudson River through several bends and arrived in the town of West Point. ππΈ Here, the waters of the Hudson River are a deep, somber blue-gray, with mountains on both sides like a delicate brushstroke, and the military academy is nestled in between. From a distance, it looks like a solemn ink wash painting. π We took a tour bus to visit the United States Military Academy at West Point, where a professional guide on board introduced us to the history of West Point and its vivid stories. ππΈ Our bus wound its way up the mountain road, passing through the famous granite archway and entering this renowned military sanctuary. πβ¨ The buildings at West Point are mostly made of gray limestone, heavy and silent. Gothic spires pierce the sky, as if they want to say something but hold back. It was winter, and as the morning mist rose, the entire academy seemed to float in the haze, appearing and disappearing like a medieval castle, making one wonder if it's all a dream. ππΈ #NewYork π½π
