My family has a unique inside perspective of West Point beyond the gates of the casual fan or visitor to the military academy. My wife and I are parents to a daughter and future cadet who has given a verbal commitment to play D1 volleyball at West Point.
As parents to a future WP recruit/cadet, we were given VIP access to really see West Point up close and personal. The campus is arguably one of the most scenic-breathtaking places in the world. The military academy rest amidst the backdrop of the sprawling Appalachians with the Hudson River as navigational guide and roadmap to endless landmarks and reference to US military history.
Everything about West Point is impressive. You almost feel the honor and historical prestige to walk in the exact footsteps of famous military leaders - Washington, Patton, Eisenhower, and McArthur. My daughter spent the night in the barracks, went to class, ate in the mess hall and was even able to watch cadets allign in formation. Oh, did I forget to mention the cadet repelling from a Black Hawk outside the window while we were in the admissions office.

I know times change & I know things become harder for everyone it's just a shame that now when you go to a doctor or a dentist, it's all about what they will be doing & what I want them to do. I really missed the diagnosis part that I used to see at my Drs. I am a patient that was involved in a bad accident, yes. it doesn't mean that I should be given up on. This is how I felt and feel at many Drs appts. I felt the greeting here from the office staff was not as warm as it used to be & honesty, it was difficult to feel a friendly vibe. Read moreI was born in Poughkeepsie NY and went to West Point on school field trips, I moved to Charlotte NC in 1979 and in 2004 I was diagnosed with cancer, my doctor was Dr H.Grant Taylor who I found out was a graduate of West Point , he later passed away but because of his military training and medical training I am still alive, so from my heart I want to thank the West Point Military Academy because I am sure they had a hand in saving me through Dr Taylor's military training.God bless...
