Recent Dinner Gatherings with Friends 🥢

Turning Days into Gatherings Amid Kenya’s Warmth I’ve always thought that in busy days, the most healing thing is sitting around a table with friends—someone snatching the last piece of sushi, someone yelling “slow down” to a kid by the slide, someone holding a coffee cup saying “this shade is too nice”. Here are three recent gatherings, with surprises and misses, noted down for you who also love dining together~ 🍣 Haru Japanese Restaurant|A “luxury gathering spot” in Karen, ingredients fresh as if just fished from the sea A friend said “let’s treat ourselves to something good” and booked this Japanese restaurant hidden in Karen. Eight of us sat around a table, the menu was a mix of Japanese and English, and waiters in kimono-style aprons softly introduced “today’s tuna arrived at dawn”. The ingredients are truly top-notch: The salmon belly in the sashimi platter glistened with oil, melting in the mouth with a sweet sea taste; The grilled eel had crispy skin and tender meat, with just the right thick sauce—paired with sushi rice, one bite after another. But the environment is indeed plain: most seats are indoors with dim lighting, window seats offer a glimpse of the street, and there are only two or three small outdoor tables. If you want to sit comfortably, you have to share a table 🫤. The price is “occasionally luxurious”—the bill for 8 people was a bit shocking, but the friend smiled and said “rare to gather, worth it”. Suitable for small groups wanting to “pamper their taste buds”, as long as you don’t mind the simple environment~ 🌳 Cotton tree (Kapok Vietnamese Restaurant)|A “looks-first” spot by the forest, but dishes lose to the menu pics Just hearing the name makes you think “it’ll be beautiful”—and it was: The restaurant is tucked next to a forest, with a huge kapok tree in the center, its branches stretching beyond the roof. Sunlight filtered through the leaves onto the tables, like scattered gold ✨. The outdoor area is perfect for kids—there are slides and small swings, and kids are always chasing each other, while parents chat under the shade, creating a really relaxed vibe. But the dishes are a bit “deceptive”: The Vietnamese spring rolls in the menu pic were golden and translucent, but when served, they were limp, with soggy rice paper lacking chewiness; The pineapple fried rice was also unimpressive, with hard rice and slightly raw pineapple chunks. In the end, we all agreed: don’t order food here, just get a fresh pineapple juice or Vietnamese iced coffee. Sit under the tree, feel the breeze, watch kids run around—mainly “paying for the environment” 😂. 🌿 Talisman Restaurant|The “family gathering ceiling” in Karen, kids go wild and adults eat happily This is my recent favorite! Hidden among large greenery, I was shocked by the green when I walked in—there are slides, swings, sandpits on the lawn, and even a small easel. Kids rush over as soon as they arrive, no need for adults to watch over them 👶🎪. The dishes are also a pleasant surprise: The roast chicken has crispy skin, the meat soaked in rosemary, and juice “sizzles” when torn; The creamy mushroom pasta is rich and smooth, with mushroom freshness mixed with milk aroma—even friends who don’t like pasta ate an extra . The price is on the higher side, but the environment is great and the taste is amazing. Adults can chat peacefully while kids play around—it’s simply a “gathering blessing for parents with kids” 👨👩👧👦. But make sure to book in advance on weekends! We arrived on a Saturday noon and just caught a canceled reservation, otherwise we’d have to wait half an hour standing in the shade~ The meaning of gatherings is probably this: No need to care “if this place is worth it”, but remember who snatched your sushi, whose kid shouted “look at me” on the slide, who held a coffee cup and said “let’s come here again”. Among the warmth of daily life, these fragments are the most precious~ Recent Gatherings with Friends #LoveLifeLoveGolf #EnjoyingQuietMoments #RestaurantInThePark #SlowLifeLeisure #KenyaFood #KenyaRestaurantRecommendations #KenyaTravel #Kenya #KenyaCoffee
